Herbs For Headache

There are approximately 28 million people that suffer from chronic migraine headaches. Some people will experience these painful and debilitating headaches an average of two to four times a month. Other people can experience them as often as every couple of days. The issue with migraines is that there just isn't enough information about them to create a sure-fire treatment or preventative. Some people experience migraine headaches as a response to stress or too much emotional stimulation, while others have vascular issues that lead to the occurrence of migraines. It is different for each person, and onset is also just a different. Although there are so many differences, studies are still being conducted to find things that can be effective, like herbs.

Peppermint
This is one herb that can help alleviate some of the symptoms that you may experience. For those who experience migraine headaches that are a result of tension and stress, adding some peppermint oil to your bath water can be beneficial. You can also mix a little peppermint oil with some lavender oil and gently massage it into your temple regions. The combination of the scents and the massage can at least dull the pain a bit to allow an over the counter pain medication to set in without having to barely overdose yourself.

White Willow Bark
This is commonly used as an anti-inflammatory medication. It also has some numbing properties. The combination of the two can be rather useful in treating a migraine headache.

Gingko Biloba
This is used for many different things. It can also be used for people who suffer from recurring migraine headaches. It helps to regulate how much blood flows through brain tissue. It can be taken in a supplemental pill form or you can use a liquid extract to add a few drops in some tea.
